Donald Craig Brown, 82
Donald Craig Brown, 82, of Yeadon, died Aug. 28 at the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.
Born and raised in Atlantic City, N.J., Mr. Brown attended Atlantic City High School and then joined the Army. While he was in the Army, Mr. Brown served at various bases in the United States and Germany. While stationed in Germany, he met and married his wife.
After a 23-year career in the military, he retired and started another career with the Philadelphia School District, working at Audenried Junior High School as a non-teaching aide. In 1968, he moved to Yeadon with his family. When Mr. Brown retired from the school district, he stayed active by volunteering in his church and community. He was a member of the choir at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Yeadon and served as treasurer of the newly formed Episcopal Men’s Group there.
He was the captain of the Yeadon Fire Police and assistant recording secretary for the Delaware County Fire Police Association for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He was president of Yeadon Town Watch Association and involved with the organization since its inception. Under the Delaware County Fireman’s Association, he was appointed as representative to the Delaware County Fire Police Association.
Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Luise Brunner Brown; children, Claudia Smith, Heidi Brown, both of Upper Darby, Luzille Burnley of Yeadon, Michael Brown of Forest, Va., Hans-Peter Brown of Seoul, South Korea; eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; other relatives.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Sept. 25, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 813 Longacre Blvd., Yeadon.
