Thomas R. MacDonald Sr., 71 A longtime Lansdowne resident

Thomas R. MacDonald Sr., 71, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Mr. MacDonald was born in Philadelphia to Claude and Gertrude MacDonald. He graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys. He retired from Lower Merion School District. He was a life member of Lansdowne Fire Company, a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, Council 590 DeLasalle, and a member of St. Charles Borremeo Parish, where he served on numerous committees. He was an avid hunter and Philadelphia sports fan who also enjoyed coaching for the Lansdowne Boys and Girls Clubs, Marple Newtown High School, and Archbishop Prendergast High School. Mr. MacDonald was preceded in death by his grandson Eric Perry.

Survivors: Beloved husband of Barbara MacDonald (nee Flatley); loving father of Maureen Kent (Ronald) of Morton, PA, Kathleen Perry ( John) of Clifton Hts., PA, Eileen MacDonald, of Lansdowne, PA and Thomas MacDonald Jr. (Crystal) of Lansdowne, PA; cherished grandfather of Erin Perry, Thomas MacDonald 3rd and Ryan MacDonald; dear brother-in-law of Jeanne Christians of Lansdowne, PA.

Visitation: Relatives and friends are invited to Tom’s Life Celebration on Thursday evening 7 to 9 PM and Friday morning 9 to 10 AM in Spencer T. Videon of Drexel Hill, PA, 400 Shadeland Ave.,Drexel Hill,PA 19026. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 11 AM in St. Charles Borremeo Church, 3422 Dennison Ave,Drexel Hill, PA.
