The most important news item is regarding Lois Johnston and the fire at her home. At present (2-02-2021) Lois is in a motel in Broomall paid for by her insurance company. They are awaiting an asbestos evaluation before proceeding with repairs. Lois is well and in pretty good spirits. She appreciates everyone calling and texting her. I hope to continue updates on her throughout the month. In other news: Joe and Sue Drabick have moved to Havertown. Sue fell just before Christmas and had pins put in her wrist. She is now doing PT. Kudos to Steve Edwards and Wayne LaDue on the very professional manner that they handled traffic control for Chief Clancy’s funeral. They oversaw maps and coordination with local and state police and the funeral home. Great job! Doug and Gina DeGrand contracted the COVID virus which sent Gina to the hospital twice. She is home and they both are doing quite well. Congratulations to Nancy Picozzi, Nick’s wife. Doctors have given Nancy an all-clear that she is cancer free. Wow! Prayers do work. Carl Ewing had heart surgery in November, but is now back on full duty. Nice!!! Carl and his unit are quite an asset. Thanks to Flo O’Brien for putting together a list of fireman, EMS and fire police deaths since the beginning of 2019. Great job and lots of work. Not sure when we will have our next Memorial Service, but we will be prepared to honor our fallen comrades. Art and Amanda are compiling an email list in order to send out special notices to members. If you haven’t sent either of them your email, get it to them ASAP. Also please send in your association and state dues to Amanda as soon as possible. If you have not received a statement please let us know. Thanks to Guilio (who is feeling better after his COVID experience) for revitalizing our webpage. There will be a special section for important news. Please check the website at least weekly. DelcoFirePolice.org. Guilio has also graciously accepted the position of Historian for our organization. Anyone with information that you have on the history of Delaware County Fire Police, please contact Guilio. Last, but not least, an update on John Pucino. John is actually 83, not 84 as I reported. Thanks, John for letting me know and thanks for your dedication, 598 calls last year for the Garrettford Drexel Hill Fire Company. Speaking of calls, Art Gorga responded to 643 calls for Upper Chichester. Kudos to Mike Parks for making over 7000 lifetime calls with Oakmont and 1st West Chester. He’s still tallying his most recent calls with Lansdowne and Garrettford Drexel Hill. Such dedication. Thanks to all who have stepped forward to keep our organization together during these trying times. God Bless Us All and God Bless America!!! Paul A.
